Join my 12 week journey!

Hi everyone and welcome to my first blog post of 'Gone Paelo!' A blog that intends to share paelo recipes, successes/failures in my 12 week journey and hopefully connect with others for a little moral support and guidance!!

I'm determined to change my nutritional habits and become a fitter, healthier person. I know I can't do this in 12 weeks, and I can't expect to transform and go back to my old habits, but I do know that these 12 weeks will be a little taster of the paelo lifestyle and it will confirm whether this is the plan that will lead me to sustaining a healthier nutritional lifestyle ... Or not!

What am I actually talking about?!? If you are reading this, and have never heard of 'paelo' before, don't worry, neither had I until last week! In my bid to get fit, I have got the help of a personal trainer, who advised that following a 12 week paelo plan was the best 'ice-breaker' into a new, healthy way of living. Basically, paelo links to the paelolithic era, cavemen, natural raw foods that contain no chemicals or toxins, lots of protein and fresh veg all complimented with exercise to reduce stress and free the mind ... That's it in a nutshell but if you like the sound of that, you can read about paelo in a little more detail here http://thepaleodiet.com/the-paleo-diet-premise/

Rob Wolf, http://robbwolf.com/what-is-the-paleo-diet/ explains the many health benefits of following the paelo plan, he also explains the ins and outs of where this has evolved, an interesting read!

So, if you are intrigued, why not join this 12 week journey with me! Or, if you are a paelo convert already, I'd love your support as I progress :)

I will post useful delicious recipes in this blog, starting with a few yummy meals I've made in the first week! Have to say, in week 1 I've found the food absolutely scrum, been so surprised by what you can eat - poached eggs, smoked salmon, sweet potato, etc .... Nom! Even baked some yummy paelo snacks .... Recipes to come :)

Starting week 2 now which involves a little fasting - to 'mentally train' the body ... Let's see how this goes!

This wouldn't be a complete blog post without a useful tip - First useful product that I highly recommend is coconut water!!!! Again, didn't know you could buy this until I started the paelo plan! Just in from a short 2k run and feel fully hydrated again after drinking this delicious peach and mango coconut water! Definitely put this on your shopping list! Not to drink all of the time, but particularly after exercise!

Any comments or help, tips, useful foods/recipes, personal experiences all very welcome!! Let's do this 12 week paelo challenge and see where it leads!!!

First recipes coming tomorrow !!
